| Biography |
Professor Sultan Tarawneh is a Professor of Construction Engineering Management at Mutah University, with a career that spans civil engineering, construction project management, academic leadership, industry practice, accreditation, and law. His professional journey started in project supervision and municipal engineering, then evolved into university teaching, research, faculty leadership, and senior construction coordination on large-scale projects in the UAE.
He has served as Dean of Engineering at Mutah University and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology at Applied Science Private University, where his responsibilities included academic leadership, engineering program development, accreditation preparation, and ABET-related reporting. His academic leadership is supported by long-standing experience as a department head, director of engineering and utilities units, postgraduate supervisor, and member of major university and professional committees.
Prof. Tarawneh’s engineering background is complemented by legal education in law and international commercial arbitration. This combination allows him to address the technical, managerial, contractual, and dispute-related aspects of construction projects, including construction claims, project delays, cost overruns, contract administration, arbitration disputes, and litigation expert support.
His research centers on construction engineering management, project performance, safety, cost and time overruns, project cash flow, ISO standards in construction, and related fields. He has published over 45 peer-reviewed papers and contributed to funded research, engineering education development, and professional accreditation efforts.
