Biography
Dr. Naef A.A. Qasem is a Distinguished Associate Professor in Aerospace Engineering at KFUPM and a Research Scholar at the Interdisciplinary Research Center for Aviation and Space Exploration, specializing in net-zero aviation, clean propulsion, thermal management, and energy systems. He holds a Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from KFUPM and a B.Sc. (First Class Honors) from King Khalid University. His research spans two decades—from solar cooling and desalination to carbon capture, hydrogen production, fuel cells, and airfoil design—resulting in 125+ peer-reviewed journal articles (predominantly Q1; h-index 47), 15 granted US patents, and 2 authored books. He has received the Distinguished Associate Professor honor (2025), Excellence in Academic Advising (2026), and KFUPM's Early Career Research Award (2024), among others. He serves on the editorial board of Applied Energy and supervises postdoctoral researchers and graduate students across multiple levels.
