Dr Ahmad Wedyan is a Senior Lecturer at Manukau Institute of Technology, New Zealand, with over ten years of tertiary teaching experience in computer science, software development, full-stack web development, business intelligence, and cloud computing. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from Auckland University of Technology, where his doctoral research focused on the Hydrological Cycle Algorithm for solving optimisation problems.
His academic and research interests include artificial intelligence, machine learning, optimisation, metaheuristic and nature-inspired algorithms, data mining, business informatics, and software engineering education. He has experience in curriculum development, course moderation, student supervision, assessment design, and inclusive tertiary teaching. His publications cover topics such as optimisation algorithms, vehicle routing problems, house price prediction, animal-computer interaction, and predictive systems.
Dr Wedyan is interested in human-centred and ethical applications of technology, particularly in AI, explainable AI, data analytics, and intelligent problem-solving systems. He is currently involved in teaching and supervising students across areas including programming, web development, software engineering, business intelligence, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and research methods.
