Prof. Dr. PEDRO BERTEMES FILHO is a Brazilian professor and researcher in Electrical and Biomedical Engineering, currently serving as a Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina (UDESC), working at the CCT campus in Joinville, Santa Catarina, Brazil 1. His academic and professional career is strongly oriented toward biomedical instrumentation, bioimpedance spectroscopy, biosensors, and intelligent wearable systems for healthcare applications.
He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from UDESC and earned his PhD in Medical Physics from the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom, consolidating an international academic background focused on the development of advanced measurement systems and signal processing applied to medicine. His research integrates hardware, firmware, and data-driven approaches, with particular emphasis on electrical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS), embedded systems, and artificial intelligence applied to health monitoring.
Prof. Bertemes Filho has extensive experience in leading multidisciplinary research projects, including national initiatives aimed at digital health, point-of-care diagnostics, and affordable wearable technologies for chronic and neglected diseases. He actively collaborates with academic, clinical, and industrial partners, contributing to technology transfer, patent generation, and translational research aligned with public health demands.
