Biography Luay Alawneh is a full professor of Software Engineering at Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST). He holds both a master’s and Ph.D. degrees from Concordia University, Canada. His research spans high-performance computing, parallel systems, and the application of deep learning in building advanced language models and time series forecasting. He has worked extensively on using deep learning techniques for human activity recognition. Luay has published in leading journals, including IEEE Transactions on Reliability and the Journal of Systems and Software. Before joining JUST in 2014, Luay was a senior software engineer at Nuance Communications (now part of Microsoft), where he specialized in voice recognition technologies. Prior to that, he worked as an applications developer at Rockwell Automation. His combination of academic expertise and substantial industry experience equips him to prepare future software engineers for real-world challenges, blending theoretical knowledge with practical industrial insights
