| Biography |
Prof. Biswajit Sarkar is currently a Professor in the Department of Industrial Engineering at Yonsei University, South
Korea. He has been awarded the 2021 Hwalchun Endowed Professorship from the Department of Industrial Engineering
at Yonsei University, South Korea. He achieved a hat-trick by receiving the Very Best Category Outstanding Professor
Achievement Award in 2023, 2024, and 2025 consecutively for research from Yonsei University, South Korea.
He completed his bachelor's and master's in Applied Mathematics in 2002 and 2004, respectively, from Jadavpur
University, West Bengal, India. He received his M.Phil. in the Application of Boolean Polynomials from Annamalai
University, Tamil Nadu, India, in 2008; his Ph.D. in Operations Research from Jadavpur University, West Bengal,
India, in 2010; and his postdoctoral degree from Pusan National University, South Korea, in 2012–2013.
He has dedicated his teaching and research abilities to various universities, including Hanyang University, South Korea
(2014-2019); Vidyasagar University, India (2010–2014); and Darjeeling Government College, India (2009–2010).
Under his supervision, 31 students have been awarded their Ph. D.s, and 7 students have been awarded their master's
degrees. Since 2010, he has published 418 journal articles in reputed international journals and four books.
He is the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Green Manufacturing and Frontiers in Sustainability-Sustainable Supply Chain
Management, Associate Editor of the SCI-indexed PLoS One, and the European Journal of Industrial Engineering,
Section Board Member of the SCI-indexed journal Energies, Topic Advisory Member of the SCI-indexed journal
Mathematics, and a guest editor of several special issues of SCI- and SCOPUS-indexed journals. He was an Associate
Editor of the SCI-indexed Journal of Cleaner Production and the journal Humanities & Social Sciences
Communications.
He is the Editorial Board Member of the SCI-indexed journal Scientific Reports, Engineering Optimization, Energies,
Inventions, and SCOPUS-indexed Journal of Industrial and Production Engineering, AIMS Environmental Science,
Discover Sustainability, and Yugoslav Journal of Operations Research. He is a member of several learned societies.
In 2014, 2023, 2024, and 2025, his five papers were selected as the best research papers at an international conference
in South Korea, India, and Taiwan, respectively. He has presented several research papers at international conferences
as an expert and invited speaker and has chaired several international conferences.
He received a bronze medal for his capstone achievement from Hanyang University in 2016, the Bharat Vikash Award
as a young scientist from India in 2016, an international award from the Korean Institute of Industrial Engineers in
2017 at KAIST, Daejeon, South Korea, and the Hanyang University Academic Award as one of the most productive
researchers in 2017 and 2018 consecutively, the Global Knowledge Foundation (GKF) Academic Eminence
International Award for supporting the GKF continuously and consistently as an editorial board member and expert
achievement by the GKF, USA, Inc, and Outstanding Researcher Award in 2025 by Sridharacharya Academy of
Mathematical Sciences, India. He belongs to the top 2% of scientists in Operations Research worldwide, according to
the Stanford Study during 2020~2025.
He is the founder and CEO of Ribita Technology Private Limited, India. He acts as a Consultant at SMARTOPT
Global Solution, India, and as a Technical Advisor at DeTaSECURE, UAE.
Presently, Prof. Sarkar is the most active author in the topic clusters of Innovative Strategies in Supply Chain
Management, Optimizing Inventory, and Supply Chain Dynamics, according to the SciVal data source SCOPUS as of
February 2026 during 2022~2026. His average publication count for SCI/SCIE/SSCI papers over the last three years is
