This paper is an attempt to automate the maintenance of nuclear power plants. Maintenance is one of the biggest concerns in a power plant. Keeping safety of employees in mind we are trying to develop a system, a Remote Head Module Maintenance Carrier(RHMC). It is fully automated and can be controlled by an operator sitting outside the hot cells. This paper focuses on a particular module known as Adjustable Torque Operator(ATO). This module aims at adjusting the torque applied to the bolts present outside the hot cells. This system is an embedded application using a robotic arm and simple digital image processing techniques.
